North Strand Democratic Club Free Fish Fry
The North Strand Democratic Club is holding its 7th Annual Free Fish Fry at Fat Harold’s at 210 Main St. in North Myrtle Beach   from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, Labor Day weekend. Donations are accepted. This year a host of candidates starting with Alvin Greene For U.S. Senate, Dr. Charles Randall for S.C.  House Seat 104, Vinny Lehotsky for Horry County Council Chairman, Subhash Saxena for Horry County School Board Chairman and Brian Scott for Horry County Council District1 will be attending the event.  

NMB Republican Club Meeting
North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce CEO Marc Jordan will be the featured speaker at the North Myrtle Beach Republican Club meeting. Heavenly Treasures Yard Sale
A Heavenly Treasures yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the First Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach. SwampFest Seeking Applications
Playcard Environmental Education Center is accepting applications for volunteers, exhibitors and performers for its annual SwampFest planned for Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This family-oriented event features educational exhibits and demonstrations about the swamp, forest, fields and natural history. Fostering Hope Softball Games Set for September
The Fourth Annual Charity Softball Tournament Teams will play Chicago 16 style softball at Ripken Experience to benefit Fostering Hope on Sept. 17-18. Sign up a team or sponsor the event. Grand Strand Women’s Day Set for September
Anne Beiler, founder of the world famous Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and author of “Twist of Faith,” is the featured speaker for Grand Strand Women’s Day to be held on Saturday, Sept. 18. Anne will share her journey of faith and message of hope, which details a remarkable story of personal tragedy, perseverance and success. Guest soloist is Michele Funderburk. She has traveled throughout the southeast and to several foreign countries ministering in song at churches, prisons, conferences and retreats and is a music teacher in the Horry County School system. Grand Strand Women’s Day will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church at 410 Sixth Ave. S., in North Myrtle Beach. Registration fee of $25 includes lunch. Beach Sweep/River Sweep Announced
Beach Sweep / River Sweep, organized by the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium in partnership with theS.C. Department of Natural Resources, is the largest one-day litter cleanup of South Carolina's beaches and waterways. Every third Saturday in September thousands of South Carolinians volunteer to clear trash from the beaches, rivers, lakes, marshes and swamps. The 2010 North Myrtle Beach’s Beach Sweep/Creek Sweep will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m.-noon. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Cherry Grove boat ramp at 53rd. Avenue North. Beach Sweep/ River Sweep is an annual event for South Carolina since 1988 and is held in conjunction with The Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup, which involves several hundred thousand volunteers in over 75 nations. North Myrtle Beach High School Classes of 1974, 1975 and 1976 Reunion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Ocean Drive Beach and Golf Resort in North Myrtle Beach. Art in the Park Returns
Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild will hold its 38th year of Art in the Park on Oct. 9-10 and Nov. 6 -7 at Chapin Park in Myrtle Beach. Saturday and Sunday hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 60 artists from the East Coast and as far away as Tennessee and 20 artists from the local area will be showing and selling their art.Typical art will include paintings, woodworking, photography, jewelry, fabric, glass, metal, pottery and stone. There is no admission charge.

Juniors Women’s Club Presents Annual Gala
The Grand Strand Juniors Women’s Club will present the 2nd Annual “Jeans & Jewels” Gala on Oct. 15 at the CB Berry Community Center in Little River.  Check in begins at 6:30 p.m. and the raffle starts at 7:30 p.m.  The annual gala, which benefits Citizens Against Spousal Abuse, will feature a "Jeans and Jewels" theme. The Ride Home Seeks Sponsors
Rolling Thunder South Carolina Chapter 3 is attempting to raise $2,500 to cover expenses for local ex-POW veterans to attend The Ride Home in Andersonville, Ga., at the National POW Museum. Ocean Drive Presbyterian Needs Help With Homeless Services
Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church is looking for a hairdresser/barber to help out once a month at Hope's Kitchen, Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church's ministry to homeless and those less fortunate in the North Myrtle Beach area. Highway 31 Fire Book Available
The South Carolina Forestry Commission in partnership with The Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross have published a 56-page, full color Highway 31 Fire Special Edition. If you wish to obtain a copy stop by the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, located at 270 Hwy 17 North in North Myrtle Beach.  There is a minimum donation of $5 per copy.
