Trio singing at church
The Stevens Family Gospel Trio Singing in Harmony...Sharing a Heritage will be held on Sunday, April 27, both morning worship services at Trinity United Methodist Church. It will be led by the Stevens Family of Warren, Ohio. The Gospel Trio will perform at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary at 706 14th Ave. S. in North Myrtle Beach. Everyone is sure to be blessed by the musical ministry of Rich, Tami and Erin. This family trio has blessed audiences up and down the east coast since 1985. Church holding Easter services
Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church invites everyone to their Easter Sunday service “The Resurrection Changes Everything” on April 20. Services start at 7:30 a.m. with a traditional chapel service in the sanctuary; at 9 a.m. there will be a contemporary service in the sanctuary and a contemporary gospel service in the Lyerly Family Life Center; at 11 a.m. there will be a traditional service in the sanctuary and a contemporary service in the Lyerly Family Life Center. College sets Annual Engineering Day
Horry Georgetown Technical College’s Annual Engineering Day, an outdoor design event for high school students interested in math and science careers, will be held from 8 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, April 23, in and around Building 300 on the Conway Campus. Hundreds of high school and college students will build bridges and other structures to compete for prizes. Members of the local chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) will judge the competition. Engineering Day is open to the public.

Relay for Life
This year’s Relay for Life will be held on Friday, May 2, starting at 6 p.m. This event is to honor cancer  survivors and in memory of those who have departed. It will be held at North Myrtle Beach High School at 3750 Sea Mtn. Hwy. in Little River and is open to the public.

NMB Citizens Association meeting
The North Myrtle Beach Citizens Association meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at the J Bryan Floyd Center at 1030 Possum Trot Road. Congressman Tom Rice will give updates on local impact and take questions.

Hypertension is topic
Hypertension will be the topic of a lunch and learn at 12 noon on Thursday, April 17, at the Center for Health & Fitness in Loris. Dr. Jose Hernandez of Loris Family Health Center will discuss the causes, symptoms and treatment options associated with hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. Dubbed “the silent killer”, one of the most dangerous aspects of hypertension is that often people do not know that they have it. A light lunch will be served. The Rev. Michael Alec Black of Ebenezer United Methodist Church welcomes all to the Maundy Thursday Communion Service on Thursday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m. and the Easter service on Sunday, April 20, at 8:30 a.m. The church is located at 10796 Hwy. 905 in Longs.

Zonta Club meetings

Taste of the Coast
The 7th Annual Risen Christ Taste of the Coast will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the new North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex in the McLeod-Seacoast Meadow. Entry fee is $3, children under 12 are free and food and drink tickets are $1 each.

Lydia’s Closet funds help center
Lydia’s Closet, the saving place, is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is located at 1003 B on Second Avenue North, across from Santee Cooper in North Myrtle Beach. Elks to hold egg hunt, dinner dance
The local Elks Lodge #2840 is inviting everyone to come and enjoy a special Easter Egg Hunt and Dinner Dance on Saturday, April 19, at the lodge at 250 Hwy. 57 S. in Little River. Proceeds will be used to support the many local charitable works of the Elks. Happy hour with discounted beverages starts at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. To help work off those dinner calories, an Easter Egg Hunt will follow. The eggs are just $5 each and each one has a great prize inside valued from $5 to $50. There are no losers. World famous DJ Lou Pratt will provide the music for listening, singing or dancing. Little River Library offers workshop
Have you ever thought of becoming a writer?  Join local author Joan Leotta at  the Little River Library for a free writer’s workshop. It will be held on Tuesday, April 8, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Sea Haven fundraiser
Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse is hosting a “Feed The Need” fundraiser for Sea Haven Inc. to “Help Us Help Youth”. All proceeds will be going to Sea Haven Inc. The official  launch for the project consisted of a luncheon for community businesses and restaurants to promote the event. Stitching Ministry needs volunteers
Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church at 410 Sixth Ave. S. in North Myrtle Beach holds a Stitching Ministry every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Quilts, skirts, tote bags and dolls are among the items made for local and international missions. Knights sponsor monthly dinners
Pasta dinners are held from 4 to 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach. Cost is $8 per person and $20 for families of two adults and two children. Desserts $1, beer $2 and wine $3. Tickets are sold at the door. The event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and Columbiettes. Proceeds go to support various local charities.

The Shepherd’s Table soup kitchen is now open and serving the hungry. It is located in the Little River United Methodist Church Life Center on the corner of Mineola Avenue and Highway 17 in Little River and is open for dinner on Friday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Education Scholarship Opportunity
The Carolina Borders Detachment 1036 of the Marine Corps League is proud to announce its annual post-secondary education scholarship competition. This $500 scholarship is available to residents of Brunswick County, N.C., or Horry County who are currently a senior in high school and have been accepted at an accredited community college, four-year college or a postsecondary trade school; or are presently attending an accredited community college, four-year college or a postsecondary trade school. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 18, 2014. The winner will be announced no later than May 16, 2014. VWHRC offers services
Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center (VWHRC) is located at 4254 Stella Court in Little River. Our club includes boat owners and non-boat owners. Many events match members for fishing trips for both offshore and inshore trips. Goodwill needs volunteers for job center
