Little River Chamber reinvests in community
The Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center formally thanked the Little River Volunteer Firefighters for supporting the community with a check presentation on Monday night at their weekly training session. These volunteers serve both the World Famous Blue Crab Festival and the Little River ShrimpFest and protect the community of Little River and surrounding areas 24/7 and 365 days a year. |
The chamber is charged with reinvesting proceeds from the festivals back into the community. “Our volunteer firefighters work relentlessly on behalf of our community and it is time we give back,” said Les Gore, a member of the board of directors for the chamber. “The volunteer fire department was here before Horry County established a fire station in Little River and they are still here ensuring our safety.”
Captain David Howell of the Horry County Fire Rescue is proud to serve with these volunteers stating, “We are in a unique position in Little River. Not all fire stations are fortunate to have these resources and support from volunteers and the Little River Chamber.”
The Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center primary objective is to make the Little River area an even better place to live, work and play. The mission of the Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center is to promote community improvement, tourism and commerce by proactive leadership and community involvement.
The Little River Chamber is a membership organization supported by more than 300 businesses and nonprofit organizations. These organizations, and the individuals representing them, join together for the purpose of promoting the civic and economic progress of our community. The Little River area’s economic success and quality of life is directly impacted by the work the chamber performs, and unlike most chambers nationwide, the Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center administers local necessities in the absence of a local municipality.
