LR Blue Crab Festival needs volunteers

Posted on Feb 9, 2017

The Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitor’s Center is seeking volunteers to help staff the World Famous Blue Crab Festival to be held May 20 and 21.
Approximately 50,000 locals and visitors flock to beautiful Little River for “the greatest street festival in the south.” Festivalgoers can enjoy local seafood from the waterfront restaurants, dance or relax to live beach music, take in the scenic views and shop for a unique gift or souvenir.
“The festival is a success because of our volunteers,” said Jennifer Walters, executive director. The festivals in Little River rely on volunteers to assist with manning the front gate as well as souvenir and beverage sales. In total, about 150 volunteers are needed to run the festival. We are seeking volunteers from our wonderful community that can commit to a three-hour shift during festival hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) by the end of March. Families and organizations are welcome to apply as a group.
All volunteers will receive a free limited edition volunteer T-shirt featuring this year’s new design on a unique T-shirt color that is not available for sale. Volunteers will also receive free admission the day they’re working, an additional admission ticket and a lunch ticket each day they are scheduled to work a shift.
Volunteers can apply online at www.BlueCrabFestival.org.

The purpose of this festival is and will continue to be one that supports and showcases the quaint atmosphere of the local Little River community. We encourage you to be a part of this tradition, and join us for our 35th Annual World Famous Blue Crab Festival, on the waterfront in Little River on May 20 and 21.
Located on the beautiful Grand Strand, the Blue Crab Festival is one of the largest festivals in the Southeast with attendance of more than 50,000. The festival will feature approximately 300 fine arts and crafts vendors, specialty food vendors, tremendous entertainment and a phenomenal children’s area. The World Famous Blue Crab Festival has been awarded the Best Annual Event/Festival on the Grand Strand. The festival continues to be the premier event on the Grand Strand with excellent vendors, entertainment, food and fellowship.
