LHWH wins National Healthcare Advertising Awards

LHWH Advertising & Public Relations in Myrtle Beach has won two Aster Awards for excellence in healthcare advertising, honoring video work produced for McLeod Health. A gold award was given for a LHWH spot featuring 2D animation and a bronze award was granted for a long form video produced for McLeod Health’s new website.
The Aster Awards, one of the largest national competitions of its kind, is hosted by Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine and Creative Images, Inc. This elite program recognizes outstanding healthcare professionals for excellence in their advertising/marketing efforts each year. The 2017 Aster Awards received nearly 3,000 entries from the United States as well as several foreign countries. Entries were reviewed by a panel of industry experts and were scored on multiple criteria with a possibility of 100 total points.
“It’s exciting to see how the quality and creativity of the work submitted increases each year. The 2017 Aster Awards program brought together some of the best and most creative advertising in the world,” said Melinda Lucas, Aster Awards program coordinator.
Of the gold award won by LHWH, Michael Tidwell, its video producer and director, said, “The initial concept was that a child’s imagination and dreams should not be held at bay by any sort of disease or physical malady. We thought the best way to illustrate this was to step inside the mind of a child at play to see what they were seeing. We started with a blank slate, filming the children playing in front of a green screen. Then we dropped in backgrounds of rooms filled with children’s drawings and combined the old-school process of traditional frame-by-frame cell animation with modern tools that allowed us to draw directly on each frame of the video. This enabled us to help the audience identify with each of the children by making them an active part of the child’s imagination.”
“We’re honored to see our work recognized as some of the best healthcare marketing and advertising in the country,” said Andy Lesnik, president of LHWH. “Coming shortly after winning an international award for our design of McLeod Health’s website, it’s another confirmation that great creative can originate here in Myrtle Beach.”
