Yacob Prong Tou, 27, of Greensboro, N.C., was charged with peeping Tom, eavesdropping or peeping and resisting arrest on Aug. 1 at Barefoot Landing according to authorities.
Officers were called to the shopping complex after a husband shopping with his wife said Tou was taking photos under his wife’s skirt, as well as other women and teenagers’ skirts.
When North Myrtle Beach Public Safety officers arrived to Barefoot Landing at approximately 8:30 p.m., they found a large crowd gathered outside and spoke with the husband of one of the victims in question.
The husband stated he saw a man in a blue shirt pretending to look at merchandise in Earthbound with his phone out according to the report. The husband went on to say that Tou was allegedly trying to take a photo underneath another woman’s skirt. This was after the man’s wife had alerted him that Tou was trying to take photos under her skirt as well.
The woman’s husband confronted Tou, grabbing the suspect’s phone. When he did, the husband noticed the camera app was active, according to officials. It is unclear what happened after the confrontation.
Tou allegedly did the same thing to a juvenile in Tiki Jim’s, police said.
The report goes on to state that a juvenile, who said she heard someone yelling that Tou was taking pictures, told police the man taking photos said, “I’m done,” and then left the store.
When questioned by officers, Tou told them he was taking photos of necklaces when a witness accused him of taking photos up skirts.
After being asked by officers to show them photos on his phone, Tou refused to do so and tried to throw the phone into the lake. An officer caught the phone and Tou tried to run but another officer caught him, causing both of them to fall to the ground.
After the scuffle, Tou was arrested and taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway.
