The City of North Myrtle Beach invites the community to join in celebrating two major milestones — the grand opening of the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex expansion and the city’s 20th year as a Tree City USA community.
The celebration will take place on Friday, November 14, beginning with a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 2 p.m., followed by a Community Tree Planting at 2:30 p.m. in the new expansion area.
The expansion includes: five soccer fields, six baseball fields, freshwater ponds, walking trails, two playgrounds and picnic shelters.
To commemorate both the opening and the 20-year Tree City USA designation, the city will plant 250 trees throughout the expansion—symbolizing growth, sustainability and community pride.
Mayor Marilyn Hatley shared her enthusiasm for the milestone and the park expansion stating, “The expansion of the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex represents our city’s continued investment in recreation, community spaces and the environment. This new addition enhances the quality of life for our residents and visitors alike and planting 250 trees is a wonderful way to symbolize our commitment to a vibrant and sustainable future.”
Community members are encouraged to participate in the Community Tree Planting and be part of this milestone event. Volunteers can sign up online at nmb.us.
“Being a Tree City USA community for two decades is a testament to the city’s ongoing dedication to maintaining a healthy and beautiful environment for current and future generations,” said Jim Grainger, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. “We are excited to mark this achievement with a meaningful, hands-on event that will continue to grow with our community.”
The City of North Myrtle Beach looks forward to welcoming the community on Friday, November 14, for this day of celebration, growth and shared accomplishment.
