Dr. Muriel O’Tuel, of North Myrtle Beach, author and motivation speaker, was the guest speaker at the Monday, January 19, VOICE monthly luncheon in North Myrtle Beach. Seventy-five women attended, which showed continued growth of the no-dues organization.
As VOICE gears up for its second year of advocacy and information sharing, they learned positive messages offered by Dr. O’Tuel. Hope and inspiration shine from those who leave their homes with what she calls “a full bucket” of positivity. She urges looking ahead while looking your best and reminds people to walk away from toxic people, to not dwell on negative news. “God always balances His books,” she said.
She asked the audience to ponder, “Who is your mentor?” Then, she challenged the group to be mentors to those who are struggling and those who seek guidance.
Her concept of deadly sins is the following: criticizing, blaming, complaining, nagging, threatening and bragging. Energy expended on these “sins” can be directed to positive actions.
VOICE is a local grassroots organization that empowers women of all ages and all walks of life through support, information, and advocacy to strengthen democracy in our communities. To learn more about VOICE, visit their website at www.voicenmb.org.
