Aquatic and Fitness Center announces expansion project

The City of North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center (AFC) is excited to announce plans for a 31,000 -square-foot expansion and renovation to its existing facility — a project designed to meet the growing needs of the North Myrtle Beach community.

With over 5,200 current memberships and continuous growth in youth programs, including after-school activities and summer camps, this expansion is not only a want but a need for the community.

The additional space will include a 4,000 square foot fitness room addition with a dedicated stretch area, an additional aerobics room. expansion and modernization of the men’s and women’s locker rooms, boys’ and girls’ locker rooms, a new gymnasium, dedicated spaces for youth programs and outdoor fitness and additional parking.

“The Aquatic and Fitness Center has been a cornerstone of health, wellness and connection in our community for years. We’re incredibly excited about this expansion, which will allow us to serve even more members and continue inspiring active, healthy lifestyles for generations to come.” said Director of Parks and Recreation Matt Gibbons.

The AFC currently offers more than 100 fitness classes per week, personal training, swim lessons and a wide variety of youth programming — making it a place for everyone in the family.
