Boys volleyball 5-4 after six matches last week

By John Smithson

The North Myrtle Beach High School varsity boys volleyball team had a very busy week last week with two region games and four matches in the Battle for the Crown tournament in Florence last Saturday.

The Chiefs opened the week with a 2-3 loss at Conway last Tuesday. The Chiefs were home last Thursday for another region match against Socastee. The Braves won that one 3-0 (8-25, 16-25, 11-25).

Over last weekend the boys were in Florence for four matches. They opened with a 2-0 win over Wilson and a 2-1 victory over the Cabarrus Athletic Association. The Chiefs lost the next two matches, first a 1-2 loss to Fort Dorchester (11-25, 25-22, 10-15), then a 0-2 match won by St. James (15-25, 12-25).

The Chiefs are away for two region matches this week. They traveled to Carolina Forest Tuesday night and are at St. James tonight for a match with the Sharks.
