The cost of mailing items via the United States Postal Service (USPS) has increased.
The Federal Government has once again raised stamp prices. The cost of a Forever stamp rose to 78 cents on Sunday, July 13, 2025. This marks a 5-cent increase from the former price of 73 cents. The hike in price was part of a wider range of rate changes for USPS mailing services.
The breakdown of the price changes are Forever Stamp one ounce increased 7.4 percent raising the cost of a single stamp to 78 cents from 73 cents. Metered 1-ounce letters Increased from 69 cents to 74 cents. Domestic postcards Increased from 56 cents to 61 cents. International postcards and 1-ounce letters: Increased from $1.65 to $1.70. Additional ounce price for single-piece letters: Increased from 28 cents to 29 cents.
The proposed changes were first introduced in April and received approval from the Postal Regulatory Commission prior to implementation. The USPS indicated that these price adjustments are essential for maintaining financial stability and for fulfilling the objectives of the “Delivering for America” 10-year plan as stated by the USPS.
The price of first-class Forever stamps increased by 7.4 percent Sunday, rising from 73 cents to 78 cents.
Senior U.S. Postal Service Representative Marti Johnson called the jump a “rational and realistic approach.”
“As changes in the mailing and shipping marketplace continue, these price adjustments are needed to achieve the financial stability sought by the organization’s Delivering for America 10-year plan,” the USPS said in a press release.
The USPS said its prices are the “most affordable in the world.”
