The North Myrtle Beach Police Department and Fire Department held the National Night Out event at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center on Possum Trot Road on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The event was free and open to the public, offering residents a chance to meet and greet with North Myrtle Beach police officers and firefighters.
National Night Out is an annual event that is held every year on the first Tuesday in August nationally.
The event was scheduled to be outdoors, with tents fully set up and ready to go at 5 p.m., however, due to rain it was moved inside the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center.
North Myrtle Beach Police Cadets Angela Jones and Aidan Lawson helped bring in tables and other supplies while it rained.
Free food was provided by Mission BBQ and the North Myrtle Beach Police Department, with options of pulled pork, chicken sliders, hot dogs, chips, beverages, snow cones and ice cream all available.
Kids had lots to look forward to during the National Night Out event, including corn hole, face painting and bounce houses.
Lots of organizations had tables set up offering services and free handouts including AT&T, Blue Cross Blue Shield, McLeod Hospice, North Myrtle Beach Police Foundation, L.E.A.D Program, Law Enforcement Appreciation Committee, North Myrtle Beach Fire Department and Horry County Sheriffs Office.
Thank you to everyone for making this a fun and successful night for the North Myrtle Beach Police Department and Fire Department.
