The Green Sea Floyds Library is set to commemorate 25 years of service on Thursday, February 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 5331 Highway 9, Green Sea. Branch Manager Melissa Shenk warmly invites the community to join in the celebration.

The library was founded on January 2, 2001. It has grown into a reliable center for the community. The library has created numerous memories through a variety of programs. These initiatives include empowering young people with the ‘Thinking Money for Kids’ financial literacy programs and addressing the digital divide with the ‘Community Connect’ initiative. “Beyond the shelves, the library continues to serve as an essential lifeline through community outreach and the recent launch of its food pantry,” shared Shenk. “For 25 years this library has been more than just a building full of books.” The Green Sea Floyds Library is not just a structure filled with books; it serves as a venue for neighbors to connect, students to develop and the community to access essential resources for their success. “We eagerly anticipate commemorating the cherished memories with those who made the programs a reality,” Shenk added.

This milestone celebration will feature light refreshments, a short ceremony and an opportunity for fellowship with fellow community members.

Attendees will have the chance to reflect on the library’s influence in the Green Sea Floyds region and Horry County, while also looking forward to future initiatives, such as the upcoming sewing classes, cooking classes and the Dungeons and Dragons program set to launch this spring.

The GSF Library is a component of the Horry County Memorial Library system. It offers access to information, technology and community-driven programs for residents of every age. Ranging from early literacy initiatives to services for seniors, the library is committed to empowering its community through continuous learning.
