Gunfight near Longs Sunday night leaves no injuries

Horry County Police responded to reports of gunfire on the evening of Sunday, September 21, in the Longs area. Four vehicles sustained damage from bullets during what appeared to be a gunfight.

Officers arrived at the intersection of Bombing Range Road and Dewitt Road around 9:30 p.m. after receiving calls about shots being fired. A witness reported hearing over 27 shots fired.

Officers discovered approximately 25 shell casings, which included 40 caliber, 7.62 caliber and 45 caliber rounds, scattered along a half-mile stretch of the road, as stated in the report.

Authorities believe that two vehicles engaged in a gunfight while heading toward Highway 90, resulting in three uninvolved vehicles being hit on Bombing Range Road.

It is suspected that two vehicles were directly involved in the gunfight, while four other vehicles were struck by stray gunfire. Additionally, another vehicle was hit and a projectile was recovered from James Bellamy Circle, according to the report.

There is currently no information available regarding suspects and no injuries have been reported.
