HGTC seeks public input to build a local campus

By Kaye Collins

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is considering establishing a local campus or learning center to benefit Loris and its neighboring communities. They invite residents in the area to share thoughts to assist with evaluating the community interest to determine the academic programs that would most effectively serve the region.

Residents in Loris, Green Sea, Longs and Aynor are invited to attend a Community Forum to be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m. at the State Theater located at 4149 Main Street in Loris. To show your support of the possibility for a HGTC campus in our area please plan to attend and bring a friend, business partner, parents and students in the community.

An online survey is available at https://forms.office.com/r/KJi9tR4xR2 to help assist HCTC determine the residents desire to have a campus close to home. There are seven questions in the survey and takes only minutes to respond. One question asks what types of academic programs or courses would be most beneficial to your community? What class schedule would best suit your community’s needs (daytime, evening classes or both)? Would your business or organization be open to collaborating with HGTC for internships, guest lectures, and workforce development? Your feedback would be highly valued.
