The ‘North-South’ All-Star Game, known as the Touchstone Energy Bowl, is an annual postseason event designed to highlight the finest talent among graduating senior athletes from various regions of South Carolina. Coaches from the state associations are responsible for selecting players who fulfill the criteria necessary to qualify for a position on the roster.

This year, the 78th edition of the game is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, at 12 p.m. at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.

LHS defensive lineman Damarea ‘Baby Grady’ Thurmond has been selected as one of the five Horry County football players to participate in the 2025 South All-Stars. Thurmond, who stands at 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 300 pounds, is deemed a game-wrecker for the Lions.  As a defensive lineman he has proven he is quick thinking on his feet and making split-second decisions with proven abilities taking a fumble by Waccamaw Warriors, juggling the ball in his hands as he quickly headed for the end-zone. He has already received several collegiate offers including one from The Citadel in Charleston.

Ronald Floyd with the North South All-Stars presented Thurmond with a trophy at the half-time show on the Heniford Field 50 yard line on Friday, Oct. 24. Horry Electric Company sponsors the North-South games and is proud to announce the seniors who will compete on the field at Doug Shaw Stadium.

The final regional season match for the Loris Lions is scheduled for Friday, October 31, at 7:30 p.m., where they will host the Aynor Blue Jackets. This event marks senior night and serves as the concluding game of the season, as the team prepares to enter the playoffs on Friday, November 7. The specific location and opponent will be revealed following the conclusion of Friday night’s football game scores, at which point the match-ups will be finalized and announced.
