Little River will host inaugural Patriots Day

The Little River Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the launch of a new annual tradition: Patriots Day, a community celebration honoring military veterans, first responders and public service members. The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, and promises to be a powerful tribute to service, sacrifice and unity.

The day’s events will begin with a parade, featuring color guards and veteran groups, followed by a ceremony of remembrance and celebration at the Little River waterfront. The program will include patriotic music, guest speakers and the presentation of a commemorative wreath by the U.S. Coast Guard.

“This is more than just an event,” said Chamber Board Chairman, Joey Davis. “It’s a heartfelt commitment to honor the heroes in our community, engage our youth through education and scholarships and bring people together in the spirit of service and patriotism.”

Key components of Patriot’s Day include:

• A permanent memorial site at Vereen Memorial Gardens.

• Annual scholarships for local high school students in the areas of art, writing, and public speaking.

• A community boat procession and family-friendly festival atmosphere.

• The creation of a 9/11 Artificial Reef, enhancing marine life and creating a lasting environmental tribute.

The Chamber is currently seeking sponsors and community partners to help bring this vision to life. Opportunities include financial sponsorships, in-kind support and volunteer participation.

“Whether you’re a business, civic group, or individual who wants to give back, there’s a place for you in this event,” Davis added. “This is our chance to come together and create something meaningful for generations to come.”
