NMB Firefighter of the Year is Hayden Long

By Billy Floyd

Hayden Long has been with the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department just over five years. He started in March 2020 with no previous firefighter experience.

In December 2021 he was promoted to Fire Engineer, the rank he currently serves in.

Hayden serves as Engineer (Driver/ Operator) for Truck 1, the City of North Myrtle Beach staffed Ladder Truck for C-Shift.

Hayden is recognized as Firefighter of the Year due to his continued dedication to the department and the city.

He serves as part of the Instructor Cadre to help the Training Division when needed.

He is constantly taking classes to better his education and skills. Last week he took his FEMA Structural Collapse Techniian training (80 hour- 2 week course) as he is a new member of the States Urban Search and Rescue Team called SC Task Force 1.

Following his training with them, it will allow him to deploy with the team to assist other states when large scale disasters strike.

Hayden represents every trait we like to see in someone serving in the fire service and we are happy to see him presented with this award.
