Organization supports residents after house fire

By Sarah B. Thomas

Over the past 15 years, North Strand Community Home (NSCH) has been honored to serve many families, veterans and individuals in the community. We are especially grateful for the lasting relationships we’ve built, with several former residents continuing to give back and advocate for NSCH.

One such individual is a former resident who worked tirelessly to rebuild her life while supporting her two sons. She had been living in a home owned by the family of a wheelchair-bound veteran, serving as his caretaker. Tragically, they recently experienced a house fire and are no longer able to live in the residence.  She, her children and the disabled veteran are now staying at the North Strand Community Home while they search for permanent housing.

Providing housing for the mother and her two sons is currently the top priority and the community has already demonstrated remarkable generosity and kindness. North Strand Community Home is deeply grateful for the ongoing support from those who stand by its mission and residents.
