The Loris Police Department visits the Capture Inc. summer program as their campaign to get out into the community to share with children. They are friendly and ready and willing to help.  Officers Bobby Brush, Keith Massey, Steven Brodey and LPD Chief Gary Buley played kickball with the children.  Each child was given a police officer badge sticker they wore proudly with excitement. 

The city of Loris spotlights employees each month for their hard work and dedication to their job and to the city of Loris.  For the month of July four employees were recognized with a certificate of service. Featured this month are Detective Eric Stevens, Crew Leader Sean Bennett and heavy equipment operator Harrison Ravenell. The city of Loris hired an interim city administrator after hours of interviews with the mayor, council members and the city attorney. Dennis Drozdak was introduced at the council meeting after an executive session to discuss personnel issues. Drozdak provided a brief history of his experience and stated that he will begin his duties as interim city administrator on Monday, Aug. 12.  “The first thing that I will focus on is the audits, or lack of,” he said, “and second on my list is the financials.”  He said his top strengths are to receive input from others to make an …

Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Brown (Joy) will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 16, 2019. They were married on August 16, 1969, and began serving on the staff of Millbrook Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C. the very next month, in September 1969. So literally, this is the 50th anniversary of their “marriage and ministry” together. Dr. Brown served as interim pastor at the First Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach from 2015–2017. Lillie Mae Hodge Graham Miller, 74, of Loris passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville, N.C. She was born on Feb. 22, 1945, in Green Sea, to the late Curtis Hodge and the late Annie Lee Todd Hodge Strickland. Mrs. Miller was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and worked as a supervisor at Loris Manufacturing until her retirement. Susan Diane Sarvis, 63,  of Florence passed away on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019 at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center. Born on Oct. 5, 1955, in Loris, she was the daughter of Ila Mae Ward Sarvis and the late Shelton “Bill” Sarvis. Mrs. Sarvis was a member of Little Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in Green Sea. Along with her father, she was predeceased by a sister, Eunice Marie Sarvis, her father-in-law, Bowden Sarvis, and her mother-in-law, Ada Sarvis.
