By Jill Roman Driftwood Garden Club held their October meeting at Tidewater Grill in North Myrtle Beach. The program for the meeting, “Greetings with Flowers and Plants”, was put on by creative designer, Trudy Sobatka. She taught the group how to press flowers and then use those flowers to create greeting cards. Some of the cards are featured in the photos. Samples of sun printing and oshibana were also presented. The Public Arts Commission plays an important role in establishing a body to guide facade grant improvements and reinforcing the role of arts and design in the community. By John Smithson The North Myrtle Beach girls tennis team made the SCHSL 5A playoffs and faced St. James at home last Thursday afternoon. The Lady Chiefs and the Lady Sharks split their two matches this season, but the Chiefs earned the home court advantage. Chiefs coach Brian Paterson explained the home playoff match. “We beat them 4-3 and they beat us 3-4, but we won more matches due to our two, three and five players winning six out of six in those matches.” Unfortunately, the Sharks came out on top last Thursday 4-3 and eliminated the Chiefs. The Chiefs had a bye in the first round of the SCHSL 5A Division 2 playoffs and Berkeley (7-17) came into North Myrtle Beach after beating West Florence in their first round match.
