Katie Redmond, 39, of North Myrtle Beach passed away unexpectedly at home with family on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020. She was born on Sept. 11, 1980, in Pensacola, Fla., to George and Carey Redmond. She has lived in North Myrtle Beach for over 25 years and always enjoyed going to the beach to relax. She worked in the restaurant service industry and vacation rental industry. Jeffrey A. Pochter, 60, of Little River passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday,  Dec. 31, 2019. Born on Sept. 24, 1959, in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Leonard and Miriam Platzman Pochter.   He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Pochter. Donald Wayne Little, 90, of Longs went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020. Born in Sonora, Ohio on Oct. 1, 1929, he was the son of Earl Swank Little and Myrtle Mae Spragg–Little.  Brothers Dwight Little and Raymond Little and sister Virginia Mae Barr-Smith preceeded him in death. Mr. Little served in the Army during the Korean Conflict with the 351st Communications Recon Company Signal Corps. Donald was a salesman for Frito-Lay in Zanesville, Ohio, and retired in 1991.  Dennis Charles Klein, 73, of North Myrtle Beach passed away on Sunday Dec. 15, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 5, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Grace Metzner Klein. He served in the army at MacDill AFB, Fla. and made a 30+ year career with IBM before retiring with his first wife, Bettye, to North Myrtle Beach. State Representative William Bailey visited North Myrtle Beach City Hall last Friday to present a check in the amount of $1 million to Mayor Marilyn Hatley. The funds go toward the $14 million 18th Avenue North Ocean Outfall, which begins construction in fall 2020. Tom Cocke, director of the Loris Recreation Department, has paved a way for Loris to grow through sports tournaments. He has spent the last year accumulating data and information to improve the recreation center fields and buildings and to bring in people from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia to participate in baseball and softball tournaments. The term sportourism is the name that interim city administrator Dennis Drozdak created to promote the tournaments in Loris.
