Swimmers set records at meet

NMB High School swim team coach Kristen Henley called it “an incredible day for our NMBHS swim team” at last Saturday’s Rock the Block swim meet in Charleston.

The boys team set a new school record in the 200 medley relay race with a time of 1:46.67. The boys also set a record in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.56.

Jerry Gordon also set a record in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.62.

Girls team highlights included a first place finish by Anna Lazareva in the 50 yard freestyle (25.49) and first place in  the 100 yard backstroke (59.13).

Maryella Baker was first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.67 and she was second in the 50 yard freestyle (25.69).

Coach Henley continues to be impressed with her team this season. “It was a solid meet all around for our boys and girls teams, with strong swims, teamwork and record-breaking performances. We couldn’t be prouder of the effort and energy in the pool today,” Henley said.
