Ricky Dew, owner of Dew’s Sugar Shack, was called to midfield at Friday’s football game halftime, where Principal Jimmy McCullough shook his hand, said a few words of appreciation of Dew’s commitment to the Loris High School programs. The plaque reads, “Presented to Ricky Dew in sincere appreciation for your outstanding service and commitment to Loris High School and the Loris community.”
Dew is a graduate of LHS and a part of the 1988 Lions football team, which remains the only team in school history to finish the regular season undefeated and unblemished. His love of LHS began when he walked the halls as a student and graduate. Keeping his almamater close to his heart, he continues to contribute in numerous ways. You might spot Dew driving the large yellow bus filled with football players to away games, providing meals for the players, and cheering from the sidelines. He has supported LHS programs through Dew’s Sugar Shack, offering chicken bog, bouncy houses, and slides for community special events.
Dew is a devoted man of faith and a humble, hardworking resident of Loris, always ready to lend a hand. His wife, Amy Dew, expressed, “I’m proud of the man he is. It’s a remarkable moment to witness him being recognized for all that he has contributed to a place that holds great significance for him.” She further mentioned that he was genuinely grateful to receive this award, stating, “It meant so much to Ricky.”
