The Budding Ecotots in Kim Holloway’s kindergarten class prepared not one, but two, gardens on Friday, November 14, 2025. Yaupon Garden Club members gathered to assist the students as they built their classroom terrarium and planted pansies in their Ecotot Garden.
Yaupon Garden Club member Mary Templeton reviewed the two previous meetings in September and October before introducing YGC member Graceann Phillips. She explained that the students would be given a chance to build a terrarium by adding rocks, soil and finally a succulent. Yaupon Garden Club members Margaret Graham, Bette Hurt, Gail Norden, Lynne Payne, Belinda Roy and Mary Templeton helped the students through each stage until they finally completed the building of their classroom terrarium. They will enjoy watching the plants grow during the school year.
Mary Templeton explained that each student will get to plant a pansy in their Ecotot garden. She assigned each YGC member with a group of students to assist with the planting. Belinda Roy distributed a name marker to each student to place beside their lovely yellow pansy. The students were delighted with their “happy” Ecotot Garden.
The Ecotot Committee will be returning on Friday, December 5, 2025, to commemorate Arbor Day. The Budding Ecotots are learning many ways to promote beauty in their community.
