The North Myrtle Beach High School boys and girls track teams got lots of exposure and competition April 3-5 at Myrtle Beach. It was the 20th year of the event that had over 40 high schools from the eastern U.S. participating over three days.
The Chiefs boys finished in 8th place out of 31 teams. The girls finished in 16th place out of 34 teams. What follows is a list of event categories and top finishers by North Myrtle Beach teams or athletes.
Beach Run events (boys) —
Jaden Chestnut finished first in the 100 meter dash. Wiseley Dawson was 15th in the 1600 meter run. Todd Braxton was 18th in the 3200 meter run. Ny’Ray Hannah was 9th and Jerell Bellamy 10th in the 110 meter hurdles (Prelims). Hannah and Bellamy were second and third in the 400 meter hurdles finals.
The Chiefs 4×100 relay team was 11th in the finals. Norvion Finklea was 11th in the triple jump finals. Dylan Kempf was first in the pole vault finals.
NMB girls Lucy Stalvey was 28th in the 800 meter run finals. Fenna Hollo was second in the 1600 meter run finals, less than two seconds behind Sophie Meisner from Alexandria City High School. Israfel Thomason was 9th in the 100 meter hurdles Prelims. Halle Morris was 7th in the 400 meter hurdles finals.
The Lady Chiefs 4×200 meter relay team was 8th in the finals. Miyah Clarke was 8th in the discus finals. Robyn Walsh was 7th in the javelin finals.
Junior/Senior Boys events —
Norvion Finklea, Primere Lewis and Jaden Chestnut finished 1-2-3 in the high jump finals. Bricey Gore, Braden Pagean and Reo Stevenson were 1-2-3 in the long jump finals. Nigel Vereen was first in the shot put finals with Thomas Moss 6th and Michael Jezierski 7th.
The NMB boys were 6th in the distance medley relay.
Junior/Senior girls events —
The girls 4×800 meter relay team was first, beating Myrtle Beach. Aleha Lang was third and Lucy Stalvey and Ravyn Walsh tied for 4th in the high jump finals. Brisa Haught was 5th and Alexandra Hines 6th in the long jump finals. Miya Clarke was first and Khamani Owens second and Kayleigh Charest 4th in the shot put finals.
Mixed Junior/Senior results —
The NMB team of Jerell Bellamy, Aleha Lang, Tyler Backman and Trinity Williams were 4th in the mixed 4×400 relay event.
Mixed Freshman/Sophomore results —
The Chiefs team of Troi Butler, Kailey Vereen, Jeremani Bernard and Lucy Stalvey finished second in the mixed 4×400 relay finals.
Freshman/Sophomore boys events —
NMB 800 meter sprint real team was 3rd. 4×800 relay team was first. Anthony Cimino was 4th in the high jump and Camren Jordan was 5th. Warren Broomer was first in the long jump, Camren Jordan 9th and Mason Gore 10th.
Freshman/Sophomore girls events —
The girls 800 meter sprint relay team finished 7th. Israfel Thomason and Autumn Anthony finished 1-2in the high jump. Zoe Mandley was 3rd. Malaysia Batten was 3rd and Brandi Gore 5th in the long jump. Mandley was 8th.
