The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs lacrosse team finished their regular season last Wednesday night with an 11-9 victory over the visiting Socastee Lady Braves at The Hank.
The Chiefs led 5-4 at halftime and increased their lead to 11-6 with five minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Lady Braves rallied for three late goals to narrow the Chiefs lead to 11-9 but the Chiefs controlled the final minutes and held on for their first-ever victory over Socastee.
The Chiefs jumped and celebrated when the horn sounded and were even happier when they found out that they qualified for the playoffs, tied with St. James and Socastee, but in third place due to goal differential.
The Chiefs were led by Ava Patel, who scored four goals and had an assist. Sydney McClannan had three goals and two assists. Lexi Schmidt had two goals and two assists, and Oaklee Castle scored twice.
Aryanna Kipybida had three assists, and Sara Mai had an assist. Abbigail Denley had seven saves as the Chiefs goalkeeper.
The Chiefs now await the playoff schedule to see who and where they play next.
