The GFWC North Myrtle Beach Woman’s Club proudly presented a $50,000 donation to the Family Justice Center on Thursday, April 23, during a special check presentation to Executive Director Deidre Arabadjis. The funds will help build the playground area at the new Horry County Domestic Violence Shelter, the first shelter of its kind in Horry County. The shelter is scheduled to open some time in July.

This meaningful contribution is the result of nearly six years of dedication and fundraising by club members. Through the club’s annual Domestic Violence Walk, Purses with Purpose and Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes, members worked steadily toward their goal of helping raise funds to create a safe haven for survivors of domestic violence and their children.

President Rhonda Atkinson stated, “This donation has truly been a labor of love for our club. From the very beginning, our members believed in the importance of creating a place of safety, healing and hope for women and children fleeing from domestic violence in Horry County.  We are honored to be part of making that vision a reality.”

The GFWC North Myrtle Beach Women’s Club has long been committed to community service and improving the lives of others through volunteerism, and advocacy. This donation reflects the club’s mission of supporting women, children and families in need while making a lasting difference in the local community.
