Boys volleyball team record is 9-9 after tournament

The NMB High School’s boys volleyball team ran their season record to 9-9 after last week’s region play and a full day of matches at the Volley Brawl at the Beach Tournament last Saturday at Myrtle Beach High School.

The Chiefs region schedule last week included two of the better teams in the 6AAAAA region. The Chiefs began the week  at Carolina Forest last Tuesday, losing 0-3 to Carolina Forest (13-25, 9-25, 11-25). The Panthers were15-3-1 entering this week’s play.

Last Thursday the Chiefs were at St. James with the Sharks 14-4 going into this week’s region play. The Chiefs lost in three sets (15-25, 11-25, 16-25).

Last Saturday the Chiefs were one of the participants in the Volley Brawl at the Beach at Myrtle Beach High school. The Chiefs lost their first tournament match to St. James 0-2 (22-25, 11-25).

The Chiefs then won two matches in a row, 2-0 over South Florence and 2-1 over Myrtle Beach. They then turned around and played Myrtle Beach once again, losing 1-2. The Chiefs next match was with South Florence and the Chiefs won 2-0.

The Chiefs played the Seahawks one more time and won 2-0, before ending the tournament with a match against St. James, the tournament champions. The Chiefs lost their final match 0-2 (8-25, 10-25). Their performance in the tournament evened their record to 9-9 entering this week’s play, home matches against Myrtle Beach Tuesday and tonight against Conway.
