The Planning Department of the City of Loris wishes to remind both political candidates and residents that all political campaign signs are required to be taken down within ten (10) days following an election.
Candidates participating in today’s runoff election must ensure that all signs are removed by no later than Friday, November 28, while candidates not involved in the runoff election should have already removed their campaign signs. Any signs that do not adhere to the City’s Zoning Ordinance will be subject to removal. Section 5-10: Removal of Signs 4.) “…political posters (signs) shall be removed within ten (10) days of an election.”
We have encountered multiple issues recently concerning signs that have been placed around the city, which do not adhere to our established rules and regulations. We would like to remind the public that no signs are permitted in any rights-of-way within the Loris city limits, with the exception of those specified in the City’s Zoning Ordinance. Signs that are painted on or affixed to trees, fence posts, telephone poles, utility poles, rocks, or any other natural features are strictly prohibited. Any off-premise signs must comply with the stipulations of the City’s OPO (Off-Premises Sign Overlay) Zone. Any non-exempt sign located within a right-of-way will be forfeited and may be confiscated.
