The North Myrtle Beach Fire Department has once again received the Fire Safe South Carolina Community Designation for 2025, marking its sixth consecutive year earning this statewide recognition.
The Fire Department first achieved the designation for the 2020 calendar year and has maintained that standard each year since.
“This recognition reflects the consistent dedication of our team to fire prevention and community risk reduction,” said Fire Chief Billy Floyd. “We are proud to continue this work and remain committed to keeping our residents and visitors safe.”
Fire Safe South Carolina is a statewide initiative launched in 2019, when only 57 fire departments met the initial requirements established by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. For the 2025 calendar year, a total of 241 fire departments across South Carolina achieved the designation, demonstrating significant growth in participation and commitment to fire safety efforts statewide.
The initiative brings together fire service organizations and community partners to support local departments through strategic, data-driven community risk reduction programs. Its goals include reducing residential fires, improving firefighter and public safety, delivering consistent fire prevention messaging and strengthening the use of fire data across the state.
This designation would not be possible without the dedicated efforts of the North Myrtle Beach Fire Marshal’s Office, the Community Risk Reduction Program and Operational Staff working together to uphold the highest standards of fire safety.
The North Myrtle Beach Fire Department remains committed to protecting lives and property through continued education, prevention and community engagement.
