Destination North Myrtle Beach and the North Myrtle Beach Chamber Foundation have announced that the Oyster Roast for the Coast will return on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The event is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Boardwalk Billy’s, located at 1407 13th Avenue North. This community gathering is designed to support the local business economy while highlighting the essential role oyster shell recycling plays in maintaining the region’s water quality and marine habitats. New this year, organizers have expanded the event’s footprint to feature multiple oyster cookers, oyster shucking tables, live entertainment and more.

All oyster shells collected during the event will be recycled and planted in the marshes of Cherry Grove to help strengthen the ecosystem and combat coastal erosion. The impact of these efforts is significant, as shells from previous events were planted near Waites Island with the help of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and local volunteers. The 300 bags of shells placed are expected to recruit roughly 135,000 new oysters over the course of a year to year and a half. Once mature, these oysters can filter approximately 2.5 gallons of water per hour, which totals roughly 4 million gallons a day. Furthermore, the resulting reefs provide a thriving habitat for more than 100 different marine species.

Attendees can enjoy a Lowcountry buffet that includes steamed oysters, BBQ, and other southern favorites. Live music will be provided throughout the afternoon by Randy Atwood & The Renegades. In addition to the food and entertainment, the event will feature a merchandise tent and a silent auction. The event will be held rain or shine, and guests are encouraged to wear comfortable lowcountry casual attire suitable for a relaxed outdoor setting.

Tickets are available for purchase in advance at the Destination North Myrtle Beach Visitor Information Center on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at Boardwalk Billy’s. Tickets are $40 for adults ages 12 and up and $15 for children ages 11 and under, though prices increase to $50 at the door. Gratuity is not included in the ticket price. For parking, attendees are asked to use the three gravel lots located directly across the street from the venue. Proceeds from the Oyster Roast for the Coast will fund expanded promotional campaigns to drive business activity for the North Myrtle Beach community.
