Green Sea Floyds Trojans and the Loris Lions faceoff

The Green Sea Floyds Trojans and the Loris Lions faced off on Friday, Sept. 13, at the first Loris Bog-Off Bowl.  It was a tight game with a final score of 28-27 with GSF winning the Bog-Off Bowl trophy. Each team member received a T-shirt from the Loris Chamber of Commerce. Varsity volleyball returns to net with two wins

The North Myrtle Beach High School varsity volleyball team returned to action last week after Hurricane Dorian visited the area. The Lady Chiefs began the week with a win over Carolina Forest at their home gym.  North Myrtle Beach won 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-21). Coach Alex Sing was glad to get the win. “Carolina Forest is young, but they have some talented kids. We were glad to get the win at their place,” Sing said. Powder Puff Game is tonight

The North Myrtle Beach High School National Honor Society would like to announce the annual Powder Puff Game. This game is, for the first time, being played as part of the Homecoming Week festivities. The game will be played on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. The game will be played between the junior and senior girls and will feature male cheerleaders from both the Class of 2020 and 2021. Shellfish season set to open Sept. 28

The 2019-20 season for recreational harvest of shellfish (clams and oysters) in coastal waters of South Carolina will open one-half hour before official sunrise on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019. The recreational shellfish season will remain open through May 15, 2020, unless conditions warrant extending or shortening the season. In the event of another hurricane, major rain event or pollution spill, shellfish beds may be temporarily closed by the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC). Girls varsity golf team falls to Myrtle Beach, Loris

The North Myrtle Beach girls varsity golf team got back into action following Hurricane Dorian with losses to Myrtle Beach and Loris. The Lady Chiefs traveled to the Dunes Club for their match with Myrtle Beach last Tuesday and were defeated  195 -209. Cara Hilburn was low scorer for the Lady Chiefs with a round of 46. Freshman Faith Goff shot a 53, Savannah Jordan had a 54 and seventh grader Kalynn Basehoar shot 57. First Strides offers women beginner’s guide to walking, running

When Jane Serues moved to the North Myrtle Beach area she brought with her a program to help women start walking or running toward fitness and less stress. Serues started First Strides in Allentown, Pa. “I began First Strides in 1997 and when I came here I wanted to continue it for women in this area,” Serues said. Serues describes First Strides as a beginner’s workshop for women that enables them to learn about walking and running over a twelve-week period of time, culminating in participation in the “Dashing Through the Glow Walk/Run 5K on November 22.  “We have weekly …

Chiefs remain undefeated, drowning the Sharks at home

The North Myrtle Beach varsity Chiefs football team scored in every quarter this past Friday night to rout the St. James Sharks 29-7. The No. 3 state 4A ranked Chiefs (3-0) held the Sharks (2-1) to just a third quarter touchdown inside the Hank Hester Sports Complex on the campus of North Myrtle Beach High School. Delayed an hour due to nearby lightning strikes the Sharks chose to receive the opening kickoff. Bellamy places third in finals

Ethan Bellamy, son of Ty and Harmony Bellamy, grandson of Scott and Ruth Anne Ellis, Terry and Liz Davis and Tommy Bellamy and great-grandson of Horace Campbell, competed in the 2019 WWA Nautique National Cable Wakeboard Championships in Waco, Texas. The three day event started on Aug. 29. Ethan advanced through quarter-finals and semi-finals. He then took 3rd place in the finals on Aug. 31. Loris Lions take on South Columbus Stallions Friday night

The Loris Lions battled the South Columbus Stallions on Monday, Sept. 9, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Heniford Field.  The Friday night game for Sept. 6 was postponed due to Hurricane Dorian. Both the Lions and Stallions missed almost a week of practices because of the school closures for both of the Carolinas after the Labor Day weekend for hurricane preparation.
