Lady Chiefs lacrosse 2-3 in 6AAAAA region

Lady Chiefs lacrosse lost two games last week against Socastee and Carolina Forest to end the week 2-3 in the 6AAAAA region and 6-3 overall this spring.

The Chiefs fell behind 6-4 after the first half of their game against Socastee last Monday and Socastee won 12-7. Aryanna Kipybida and Lexi Schmidt each scored twice for the Chiefs. Ava Patel had one goal and one assist and Rylee Denley and Oaklee Castle also scored goals. Sara Mai had one assist for the Chiefs offense. Tyra Green had 10 saves for the Chiefs in goal.

Last Thursday night the Chiefs were home to take on the Carolina Forest Lady Panthers. The Chiefs had some scoring opportunities, but lost many draws to the Panthers and points off those possessions.

The Chiefs Sydney McClannan scored three goals and had an assist. Aryanna Kipybida scored two goals and also had an assist. Oaklee Castle and Lexi Smith tallied the other goals, and Sara Mai had an assist for the Chiefs.

Coach Dannielle Lowrimore summed up her game with the Panthers. “They are a phenomenal team. They have for years been the dominating team in our area. They have been a great team. Although we always want to win against them, a good loss to them is what we saw tonight, things that we know we can improve on. With five games left in our season this game allows us to see some of our weaknesses as we continue to play some teams that will factor into our playoffs.

“Carolina Forest is 5A and technically in our region, number one in the region, but we won’t see them in postseason play. They are in division I and we are in division II. Coming into this game Coach Sarah and I were looking at this game to see what we needed to try and work on related to future games. The girls performed. We had a few things to correct, and they really came out and played great. Compared to years past and games against Carolina Forest, I’ll take this. I’ve seen a lot of growth on our team and the players’ growth through experience against good teams. I’m happy and our goal is to continue to push for the playoffs,” Lowrimore said.

The Chiefs played Myrtle Beach on Monday, and their next home game is April 10th against South Brunswick.
