The Budding Ecotots learned the importance of “Reducing, Reusing and Recycling“ at their Friday, October 17, meeting with the Yaupon Garden Club Ecotot committee. YGC member Margaret Graham led the meeting. She introduced Kendra Dickerson from the Horry County Solid Waste Authority who explained why it is so important to keep our streams, lakes and ocean clean.
Belinda Roy showed the children how to recycle a one liter plastic bottle into a bird feeder. Each student was assisted in making their own bird feeder to take home. Margaret Graham, Bette Hurt, Joy Murray, Gail Norden and Belinda Roy were all there to lend a helping hand. The Ecotots were given stickers to decorate their bird feeders. YGC member Gail Norden prepared and distributed a bag of bird food to each child. All the children were happy to receive a coloring book and crayons about “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”.
These Budding Ecotots will be better prepared to be stewards of the environment.
