Grace Church in Loris organized two fundraising events over the weekend. On Saturday, January 17, they conducted an Indoor Garage Sale featuring donated items for sale, with proceeds directed towards the church’s missionary funds. Local vendors displayed their distinctive products at tables.

“Grace Church aims to celebrate events that engage the Loris community and its neighboring regions,” remarked Pastor Chris Tullis, “as a means to address the ministry requirements of our church.”

“Grace Church hosted a weekend of community fundraising and family friendly events,” expressed Tullis. “At Grace Church we celebrated a strong weekend of community connection and support with two successful events.”

The event drew a steady flow of shoppers throughout the day and showcased a variety of items, products, and small business offerings. Local vendor Michelle Young owns Young and Boutique, Cindy Martin of Jordan Essentials, Rhonda Taylor of  Randi’s Treasures and Treats and many other vendors participated in the fundraiser in the Grace Church gymnasium on Saturday.

“The church leadership expresses gratitude for the strong turnout and community participation,” expressed David Ballard, “noting that events like the garage sale not only serve as fundraisers, but also create meaningful opportunities for local businesses and neighbors to connect.”

Another enjoyable event that took place on Sunday, January 18, after church services was the church’s inaugural Chili Cook-Off Contest. Eleven participants prepared their favorite homemade recipes for the attendees, who acted as judges to taste and provide feedback across various categories to determine their preferred chili. After the votes were counted, the winners were announced as they received awards

As the crowd gathered around the eleven cooks, the announcement of the First Place/Best Overall award went to Pastor Chris Tullis. Diana McElveen secured second place, while Jessica Suggs took home third place. The title of Fire Breather (for the spiciest chili) was awarded to David Ballard. Elder Steve Herring received the Most Creative award, and Kade Ward was honored with the Kids’ Choice award.

Organizers described the Chili Cook-Off as a fun and family-friendly way to build fellowship while supporting the church, and shared plans to continue hosting community events throughout the year.
