On Monday, April 13, 2026, World War II veteran Gus Preno celebrated his 109th birthday at River Park Senior Living retirement home in Little River.

The celebration was put together with the help of Mission BBQ owner Kristy LeVasseur and the staff of River Park Senior Living.

Starting at 2 p.m., a parade route led by Horry County Police Department made it’s way to Presno’s front door to wish him a very happy birthday.

Close to one hundred guests came to say hello to the veteran after the parade, with many giving him cards and gifts.

“My birthday has been wonderful,” said Gus Preno. “I’ve gotten all kinds of gifts too. My favorite thing about today has been the amount of people I hadn’t met before that wanted to celebrate with me.”

Happy birthday Gus Preno!
