An unidentified lottery player in Horry County narrowly missed a massive grand prize but secured a substantial six-figure windfall during a mid-week Powerball drawing.
South Carolina Education Lottery administrators confirmed that a single ticket matched four white-ball numbers and the red Powerball during the drawing on Wednesday, May 13.
Official retail logs indicate that the winning ticket was purchased at Money Saver Liquors, a commercial beverage and convenience venue located at 4211 Broad Street in Loris.
The financial stroke of luck has triggered a localized search for the winner across the tight-knit community and along the Grand Strand, driving a sudden influx of ticket sales at local vendors.
The drawn winning sequence was identified as white-ball numbers 22, 31, 52, 56 and 67, with 15 selected as the red Powerball.
According to lottery probability indexes, the exact mathematical odds of aligning four out of five white balls alongside the designated Powerball number stand at a steep 1 in 913,129.
Because the ticket holder successfully hit the specific match parameters, the standard baseline prize was elevated to a $100,000 payout.
Once the winner formally steps forward to complete the state verification process, Money Saver Liquors is slated to receive a corporate retailer commission from state lottery funds for facilitating the winning transaction.
Under South Carolina state fiscal guidelines, the anonymous beneficiary faces a strict regulatory window of 180 days from the initial drawing date to present the physical ticket and file a formal claim at an official lottery collection center.
To safeguard the funds, education lottery representatives issued a public advisory instructing the ticket holder to sign the back of the slip and store it in a secure location prior to formal retrieval.
