The North Myrtle Beach High School boys and girls track teams had a state champion and several other outstanding performances at the SCHSL State 5A Division 2 championships in Columbia over the weekend.
Dylan Kempf won the state championship in the pole vault. Ny’Ray Hannah finished third in the 400 meter hurdles and the triple jump. Jaden Chestnut was fourth in the 100 meter dash. Jerrell Bellamy was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles and tenth in the 110 meter hurdles. The 4X100 meter relay team of Reo Stevenson, Jerell Bellamy, Jaden Chestnut and Ny’ray Hannah were eighth in the state. Norvion Finklea was tenth in the triple jump.
Fenna Hollo was the top girls finisher at state as she came in third in the 1600 meter run, about five seconds behind the first-place runner. Lucy Stalvey was sixth in the javelin. Alexandra Hines was seventh in the pole vault and Israfel Thomason was eighth in the 100 meter hurdles. Brandi Gore was tenth in the long jump.
Other finishers were Halle Morris, tenth in the 400 meter hurdles; 4×800 relay team, tenth; 4×100 relay team, fourteenth; Israfel Thomason and Ravyn Walsh, eleventh in the high jump; Robyn Walsh, fourteenth in the javelin; Khamani Owns, fifteenth in shot put.
