Vernon K. Greene, 93, of Myrtle Beach died on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Palmetto Assisted Living in Murrells Inlet. Born on April 17, 1926, in Decatur, Ill., he was the son of the late Earle and Henrietta Porter Greene. Mr. Greene was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach. Survivors include his wife, Paulette Scales Greene; three sons, Michael Greene, Mark Greene and Matt Greene; daughter, Laura Bauman; 12 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. Born on Nov. 16, 1933, in Beloit, Kan., he was the son of the late Albert and Luella Sigg Schlegel. The Reverend Schlegel is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edith Esterly Schlegel; one son, John L. Peggy Joyce Tyler Todd, 85, of Loris passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019, at McLeod Loris Hospital. Mrs. Todd was born on Nov. 28, 1933, in McColl to the late Grover Cleveland Tyler and the late Jeanetta Stevens. John Thomas Puckett, 85, of Little River died on Tuesday,  June 11, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 23, 1934, in Charlotte, N.C., he was the son of the late Walter C. and Emily A. Thomas Puckett. He was a wonderful husband, father and an avid Panthers fan. North Myrtle Beach’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 walked away from the recently completed VFW Department (state) Convention in Columbia with a very prestegious award. The official title is the James W. Cothran award. This award also makes Post 10804 an “All State Post”.
