Loris Broadcasting Radio Sports (LBI) was live from Green Sea Floyds Luther Enzor Field recently.  The pre-game show begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the 7:30 p.m. kickoff.  LBI Radio owners Glenn Hardee and Mike Suggs provided a play-by-play account of the game, players and action as it takes place.  Both Hardee and Suggs graduated from Loris High School in 1981. The North Myrtle Beach High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams have started the season 3-0, with two road wins last week and a first home win Monday night at home. Last Tuesday the Lady Chiefs began their campaign with a 53-25 win at Carolina Forest. Coach Brooke Smith was very pleased with the results. “Almost our entire team put points on the board. Kimberly “Kim” Martin Prince of North Myrtle Beach passed away with family by her side on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Duke University at the age of 60. Irene Gerrald Harrelson, 88, of Green Sea passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019. Mrs. Harrelson was born on Dec. 23, 1930, in Mullins to the late Samuel Gurley Gerrald and the late Lennie Joanna Grainger Gerrald. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Green Sea Floyds Schools for over thirty years. Mrs. Harrelson was a longtime faithful member of Green Sea Baptist Church. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time at their beach house in the Cherry Grove section of North Myrtle Beach. She was an avid gardener who took pride in her …

Everette Vereen, 52, of Little River passed away last week. A viewing was held on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Latimers Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 9, at 1 p.m. at Popular AME Church in Wampee. Burial followed in the Popular Cemetery. The family gathered at 4051 Lincoln Heights Road in Little River. Latimers Funeral Home of Conway served the family.

Douglas ‘Michael’ Duncan, 68, of Tabor City, N.C., passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, at his home. Mr. Duncan was born on Oct. 5, 1951, in Loris. He was a brakeman for CSX Railroad in Florence and worked as a sales representative for Home Security Life Insurance Company in Conway for many years. In his free time he thoroughly enjoyed tennis, football and basketball. He was a proud member of the Loris Lions Club and a longtime member of Loris First Baptist Church. Mary Carolyn Adams, 88, of Little River passed away on Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. Born on May 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James Ernest and Mary Croomie (McColl) Jordan.  Carolyn was predeceased by her husband and true love, George B. Adams, and two sisters, Betty J. Deam of Fayetteville, N.C., and Faye J. Williamson of Bardstown, KY. For the past decade, Driftwood Garden Club has enjoyed its role in the city- sponsored free Christmas wreath-making workshop.  This year the workshop was held on Thursday, Dec 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center.  The North Myrtle Beach Department of Parks and Recreation supplied the fresh greenery and working tools and club members provided instruction and encouragement to the more than 100 in attendance.  Everyone left the free workshop smelling of pine, big smiles and with a sense of both accomplishment and pride in having made their own wreaths or other holiday floral …
