Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 Life Member and River Park resident Dan Farley thought it was not right that the entrance foyer at the River Park Senior Living did not have an American Flag in the lobby. After discussing it with Diane Renner, River Park’s Community Manager, Dane brought the idea to VFW Post 10804. Post members voted to take on the project and post leadership went about finding and purchasing the flags and stands.
Dan’s wife Cathey thought the flag idea would also be appropriate for the lobby of the River Park Assisted Living and Memory Care building. Cathey went to River Park’s Executive Director Tommy Jackson and he liked the idea. So, Cathey went to the VFW Post 10804 Auxiliary promoting the need for the flag. Auxiliary members voted to take on the project and Cathey went about the business of purchasing an American Flag and stand.
At a recent dedication ceremony at River Park, members of Post 10804 and Auxiliary presented an American Flag and a POW-MIA (Prisoner-of-War – Missing-in-Action) flags. These flags were posted in the lobby of the Senior Living building and an American Flag was posted in the Lobby of the Assisted Living/Memory Care building.
As part of the ceremony, River Park arranged a “breakfast with their resident veterans” where Post 10804 and Auxiliary members got to mingle with and eat breakfast with the many River Park resident veterans. A good time was had by all.
