On Friday, July 11, at 2 p.m., a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex for three free mini libraries that were installed compliments of the North Myrtle Beach Rotary Club, the City of North Myrtle Beach, The Home Depot Foundation and North Myrtle Beach Home Depot.
In attendance were North Myrtle Beach City Council members Fred Coyne and Bubba Collins, North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex manager Bernie Lowe, North Myrtle Beach Rotarian President James Pease, incoming president Melissa Wober and Rotarians Mary Wisdom and Diamond Frandsen.
The free mini libraries are for kids to be able to read books for free and also leave books to share with others.
More free mini libraries are planned to be added as the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex finishes it’s expansion.
On Thursday, June 26, the North Myrtle Beach Home Depot donated and built five free mini libraries for the North Myrtle Beach Rotary Club. Materials were provided by a grant issued from The Home Depot foundation.
North Myrtle Beach Home Depot employees Henry Friskey, Amber Binnie, Julie Benson and Rhonda Blackshear all helped in completing the mini libraries.
