Baldwin announces run for NMB mayor

North Myrtle Beach City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem, J Baldwin, has announced his plans to run for North Myrtle Beach City Mayor.

North Myrtle Beach City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem, J Baldwin, announced his plans to run for mayor this November.

Baldwin said, “I’ve enjoyed serving the people of North Myrtle Beach on City Council and excited about the possibility of bringing my experience and energy to the office of Mayor.”

“I recently retired after operating a successful local business in our city for decades…one started by my grandfather during World War II… allowing me to give my full attention to serving North Myrtle Beach.  Our residents deserve a dedicated, full-time Mayor working for them each and every day,” Baldwin continued.

“I was born and raised in North Myrtle Beach. I have seen first-hand the growth and change that our community has experienced over the years. It’s no longer the quiet little beach town it was when I was a kid.  Today North Myrtle Beach is a thriving city that offers its residents access not only to some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, but world-class dining, endless entertainment options and an unmatched quality of life,” Baldwin said.

“As your next Mayor I will focus my efforts on making sure that our law enforcement and first responders have the resources they need to protect our homes and families, increasing government transparency and accountability and improving our local roads and infrastructure to relieve traffic, reduce flooding and minimize the effects of growth in our community,” he continued.

“I am committed to being available and responsive. I have always published my personal cell phone number so people can reach me if they have a problem and I genuinely want to hear from residents and businesses with any concerns or suggestions,” Baldwin said.

“I don’t have all the answers, but I am willing and ready to listen and to roll up my sleeves and go to work to make our city the best it can be,” he concluded.

Baldwin said he will announce plans in the weeks ahead for an official campaign kick-off to be held in the fall.  In the meantime he said he plans to continue his efforts to meet personally with voters and talk with residents in every area of the city.
