The North Myrtle Beach Lady Chiefs track and field team finished third at the Island Invitational track meet last Saturday. The Chiefs were third out of fourteen girls team competing in the meet and were led by Fenna Hollo, who was named the Runner of the Meet for her performance.
Hollo won first place in both the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run, crossing the finish line at least 15 seconds ahead of the second-place runner in both races. Her accomplishments anchored a third-place finish for the Lady Chiefs in the final team standings.
The girls team had other performances that pointed toward their victory. Aleha Lang was third in the 800 meter run, Robyn Walsh third in the 3200 meter run, Israfel Thomason second in the 100 meter hurdles and Halle Morris first in the 400 meter hurdles.
The relay teams also did well. The 4×100 NMB relay team was third. The 4×400 team took third and the 4×800 relay team won their race.
Israfel Thomason was fourth in the high jump. Alexandra Hines was second in the pole vault, with Sophie Hayes fifth. Miya Clarke took fourth in the discus. Robyn Walsh was eighth and Avery Speckman ninth in the javelin. Clarke was third in the shot put with Khamani Owens fifth.
The Chiefs boys team did not finish in a top position but still had some positives. Jaden Chestnut was sixth in the 100 meter dash. Troi Butler took fourth in the 800 meter run and Tavion Vereen was eighth. Dawson Wiseley was fifth in the 1600 meter run and Todd Braxton was fifth in the 3200 meter run. Primere Lewis was fifth in the 110 meter hurdles and seventh in the high jump. Reo Stevenson was seventh in the high jump and Norvion Finklea ninth.
Braden Pagan was eighth in the triple jump and Michael Jezierski ninth in the discus.
