The NMB Chiefs boys varsity is searching for consistency. The Chiefs won their first three games of the season before dropping five straight games and a 3-5 record in non-region games.
The Chiefs lost two of those games last week. They traveled to West Brunswick last Tuesday to play the Trojans. The Chiefs beat them in an overtime thriller in the first game of the schedule but knew it would be tough in the rematch.
The Chiefs had a good first half against the Trojans and led 21-20. West Brunswick turned things around in the second two quarters and came away with a 54-47 win.
The Chiefs were led by Porter Anglin’s 20 points. Anglin hit 8 of 10 shots and 4 of 7 from the foul line. Caden Bass scored 8 points for the Chiefs. The Chiefs had 14 turnovers in the game and are having a tough time getting consistent offensive production.
The Chiefs finished the week at Loris last Friday and dropped their second game to the Lions by a 56-45 score.
The Chiefs played West Florence at home on Tuesday and finish their pre-Christmas games with their Shootout by the Sea Tournament starting on Saturday at North Myrtle Beach.
