The North Myrtle Beach High School varsity Lady Chiefs are alive and kicking in the SCHSL softball playoffs. The Chiefs proved that with a 7-4 win over Conway Monday night at Conway.
The Chiefs faced a win or go home game with the Lady Tigers and after a scoreless first inning, they did something about it.
Singles by Lilly Carney, Izzy Bruno and Sierra Bendik loaded the bases in the top of the second. With two outs Chloe Butler doubled to right field and three runs scored. A double by Carolina Porter drove in Butler for a 4-0 lead.
A Conway error, a Chiefs walk and a single by Hadley Leonhardt scored two more Chiefs runs in the third inning for a 6-0 lead.
Conway scored one run in the bottom of the third without a hit and the Chiefs got that run back in the top of the fifth on a Leonhardt sacrifice fly that scored Sadie Olson for a 7-1 Chiefs lead.
Conway scored three runs in the sixth inning with two outs and had the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh with one out. After a walk forced in one run, Sierra Bendik struck out a batter for out number two, and a groundout ended the game with the Chiefs winning 7-4.
North Myrtle Beach moved to St. James Wednesday to face the 27-1 Lady Sharks.
