The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs had to wait through a postponement and two trips to Goose Creek before beating the Gators 30-8 Monday.
It was worth the wait.
The Chiefs and Gators played a slow first quarter before Wilson ran straight up the middle for a touchdown and 7-0 lead on the first possession of the game.
Early in the second quarter the Gators took advantage of a Chiefs snap into the end zone for a safety and 7-2 score.
Lamonte Smith’s interception made it 14-2 a short time later.
Following the Chiefs kickoff David Porter took off on an 80-yard run and the Gators trailed 14-8.
Three plays after the Gators kickoff the Chiefs Will McNeely scored on a 60 yard play and 21-8 Chiefs lead. He scored again for a 27-8 score.
The Chiefs added a late field goal and won 30-8.
McNeely’s three scores and over 230 yards on the ground were impressive.
The Chiefs defense was swarming and did not give up.
The Chiefs face Darlington on Friday.
