Humane Society fundraiser returns

The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach is inviting the community to step into the paws of shelter animals during its Sixth Annual Kennel Lock-In Fundraiser on Saturday, April 18. This is a unique event designed to raise critical funds while giving participants a glimpse into life inside the shelter.

During the Kennel Lock-In, participants volunteer to spend several hours “locked in” one of the shelter’s dog kennels or cat rooms while raising funds to support the animals in the Humane Society’s care. Each participant commits to raising donations from friends, family and supporters, helping provide the necessary resources to care for the animals at the shelter. Participants will have a furry roommate for company, as the experience highlights the reality that many shelter animals face while waiting for a home.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be streamed live throughout the day on the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach’s Facebook page, allowing supporters to follow along, cheer on participants and donate from anywhere.

“This event helps people understand what it’s like for animals who spend days, weeks, or even months waiting in a shelter,” said Meaghan Pitman, Marketing Manager for the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. “By stepping inside a kennel for a few hours, participants help shine a light on the importance of our organization while raising critical funds for the animals who rely on us.”

All funds raised directly support the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach’s mission to provide shelter, medical care, enrichment and second chances to animals in need.
