NMB Chiefs girls lacrosse senior Sara Mai is in action for the Lady Chiefs. Now that the season is over Mai has been named to the All-Region team and has been selected to play in the North-South lacrosse game on May 16 in Columbia. Mai is a midfield and attack specialist who is always in motion and ready to go after a loose ball, screen a defender for a teammate or shoot to score. She will be missed.

The NMB Lady Chiefs battled all season long, earned a place in the SCHSL playoffs with their first win ever against Socastee but then lost 17-14 to the Lady Sharks last Tuesday night at St. James.
The Chiefs split their season series with the Lady Sharks, winning their first game 11-9 before losing 16-8 on April 13th. This time they played hard but were outshot by the Sharks and lost enough draws to make a difference in possession chances.
The Chiefs scoring came from three freshmen players, Aryanna Kipybida with 7 goals and three assists, Sydney McClannan with two goals and Lexi Schmidt with five goals and six assists.
Abbigail Denley faced 26 shots and saved 9 in goal.
Coach Danielle Lowrimore remains confident for the future as she builds her program.
“This season was a major step forward for our program. Finishing with ten wins after having only five last year and 0 just three seasons ago, shows how hard these girls have worked and how much they believe in each other.”
“We are so proud to have Sara Mai represent us in the North-South Game, multiple players with All-Region honors, and wins over teams we have never beaten before. We’ll definitely miss our seniors and everything they brought to this team, but they have helped build a strong foundation, and we’re excited about the future and what next season can bring,” Lowrimore said.
Here is a list of players making All-Region and their position. Oaklee Castle-Midfield; Aryanna Kipybida-Midfield Draw Specialist; Ava Patel-Midfield Draw Specialist; Sara Mai-Attack; Lexi Schmidt-Attack; Leah Roberts-Defense; Camden Cavallini-Defense;
Honorable Mention: Sydney McClannan-Middle/Attack and Sadie Miller for defense. Sara Mai selected to the North-South game.
One very important award must be mentioned. Danielle Lowrimore is region Coach of the Year.
