The North Myrtle Beach High School varsity basketball team remained undefeated after three more wins in last week’s non region schedule.
The Chiefs opened their three-game schedule last Monday with a trip to West Brunswick High School for a rematch with the Lady Trojans, a team they played in their first game of the season and beat 71-13 at North Myrtle Beach.
This time the Chiefs won by a 62-23 score with the team’s pressing defense leading to 33 steals in the game. Jurnee Blye led the Chiefs scoring with 20 points, hitting nine of ten shots and 2 out of 2 at the foul line.
Sophie Powell scored 14 points and had five assists, and Maddie Vereen scored 11 points and had 5 assists.
The Chiefs were back in North Carolina on Wednesday to play Laney High School. They beat the Buccaneers 50-24 on November 24 at the Chiefs gymnasium. Laney made it much tougher on the Chiefs playing at home, leading 23-22 at halftime. The Chiefs turned things around in the second half, outscoring the Buccaneers 26-22 for a 48-45 victory.
The Lady Chiefs finished the week with their second game of the season against the Lady Lions at Loris High School. Once again, the Chiefs totally dominated the Lions, beating them 67-8.
The Chiefs will be trying to better their record this week. They were home on Tuesday with their second game with West Florence. The Chiefs will play Saturday morning at home against Georgetown, and Carvers Bay pays a visit to North Myrtle Beach on Monday, before the Chiefs take a holiday break.
